It might be a good idea. For years I carried basic liability and then I added whatever minimum collision was available for vehicles I owned that were worth repairing in an accident. I'm sure many carry minimum required amounts for collision on cars they owe money on.

And then a few years ago I thougot about my coverage limits and realized that I was carrying a significant risk with my minimum coverage amount - $30k at the time.

Sure, fender benders are covered but what happens if I'm in a wreck that totals one or two cars? $30k doesn't go very far when so many people are driving $40k+ vehicles.
