In my mind, BYU had 1 more year of Tanner Mangum. It was either going to be 2016 or it was going to be 2017. If he had played and torn it up this year, he'd be gone to the NFL after this season ended. By pushing out his one year, it gives him time to learn Detmer's system and be even more lethal next year. The more I think about the QB situation this year, the more convinced I am that Ty made an excellent decision.
