Excluding our bowl game, we averaged 47 points per game in 2001. We scored 70 points in our season opener. The players were jazzed that year. Crowton was being praised for his offensive genius. And then it all fell apart, of course. Still, a new coaching staff with decent players can have a lot of success early--even when implementing a new offense. I can accept most of our close losses, but not the one last Thursday.
