He's preaching to the choir by saying BYU is better off in a conference but it's foolish to just join a conference just for the sake of being in a conference again. To use his analogy, it would be like the Israelites going back to Egypt and being slaves again.
Buck seems to be under the misconception that if we join a G5 conference and dominate, a P5 conference will come calling like Daddy Warbucks and take us in. I think we can all agree that it wasn't BYU's football record that has kept us out of a P5 conference and the minute we decide to join a conference like the MWC or AAC, watch those guys slap a huge exit fee and penalty clause on us should we try leaving for greener pastures.
The part about expanding LES and adding wifi makes little sense in the context of the rest of the article. There's definitely a lot of room for improvement with our facilities but facilities or lack of wifi at LES is not what's keeping us out of a P5 conference.
