We tend to glorify the old WAC/MWC days a bit too much
National Championship, Record Setting QBs, Heisman winner all great! But those days are never coming back again. Boise St is the closest thing to BYU of old in a G5 conference. Their shot at a those things is not any better than BYU's in Independence. I know they have a path to a NY6 bowl, but that long shot is not worth it.

I remember rarely being able to watch BYU on TV, even rarely at our Stake Center. Anyone else have a hard time seeing the Cincinati game this year? Welcome to a G5 conference. I *love* our TV coverage and schedule. Holmoe has done a great job.

Back in the day, I could barely even find BYU's football score the day after. I had to study the "Far West" football scores section of the . . . wait for it . . . newspaper! Very little was available about BYU's recruiting. The Internet brings us all the info we need about our teams. Everyone can find anything about any team or any player, if they really want to know. My local cable provider does not carry BYU TV, but hook up a laptop and watch BYU sports whenever needed.

The glory days of unknown BYU coming of of nowhere to throw for 1,000 yards per game and grab the nation's attention are gone, just like Ty says. So we need to look to the future and what will position BYU best for the changing world of college sports. I think Independence, big time schedules, national TV presence and P5 equivalence positions us best. Not retrenching to become Cincinnati or Boise State. We can be a great program delivering fun, competitive, winning football. That is what we should aim for.
