This is an adjustment period to get the type of recruits they want and need on the team. As its been stated on here, KS and staff feel there are players on the team they wouldn't have recruited but if they have scholarships, they aren't getting them taken away just because of a lack of talent. Many have been told they will never play - and are fine with that. Walkons like Ficklin are nice to have but not at the expense of a scholarship...he's making the decision to get school paid for at USU. the silver lining in all this, to me, is the fact that KS must believe he has a great shot at some of the studs we are recruiting with many P5 offers and needs to save the scholarships for them. I know of one transfer he personally watched play against Or St that he has had to go back on his promise of having a spot for him if he got his associates finished...it happens, this guy was crushed and going to utes as a preferred walkon with some bitterness against BYU...ever heard that play out before? Regardless, I'm optimistic signing day will be a great class.
