the question is WHEN would an NFL team lose to the current top college team.

Could Alabama/Clemson of today beat the Browns of today? Not a chance. But what about today's college team in an imaginary matchup against the worst NFL team of 15 years ago? 25 years ago? 50 years ago? Bama would easily beat the 1-11 Baltimore Colts of 1950. Players are so much bigger stronger faster than 60+ years ago. I'm just not sure at what year the NFL surpasses today's college teams.
