Their issue isn't with Mormonism per se, it is with academic freedom at BYU and
with treatment/politics of homosexuality in the LDS Church. These are their main issues with BYU as an institution, and for the LDS church as an institution, but not necessarily with individuals of the LDS faith. I guess they figure, not illogically, that if an individual Mormon student or student-athlete wants to attend an institution like Stanford, then they must be open to being in that type of environment -- otherwise, they would attend a different kind of university.
