Don't get your hopes up. Like every "breakthrough" lab discovery, they don't always work as well when they move them from in vitro (petri dish) to in vivo (live animal) studies. In my research time at BYU, my ochem lab discovered a novel treatment for a type of lung cancer which was incredibly effective when we sent it off for lab testing. It was hundreds of times better than the current treatment (cisplatin). However, when we finally made enough to send out to be tested in mice, it was so toxic I don't even think the mouse survived the treatment. Back to the drawing board...
