There aint a powerful enough "non-disclosure" in the whole world for that ...
... entire operation to stay a secret for half a century like it has.
Think of the thousands and thousands of people that would have to have been involved, all the way from set designers, to costume designers, to low/mid/high level NASA employees and US Government officials, to television network producers and cameramen, etc.
There is no way it could have been made up and still not been exposed 50 years later.
