The chances of making the playoff right now with just 4 teams are so remote and impossible that our chances are close to zero...even with an undefeated season. If they expanded the playoff to 16, for example, we would actually control our own destiny, even though the path the championship now includes 2 additional games that would not be there with a 4 team playoff. I can't see any scenario where an undefeated BYU team (especially scheduling how we are currently) is left out of a 16 team playoff. With a 4 team playoff, I can several scenarios where an undefeated BYU team is left out (in fact, I think it is likely).

I guess what I am trying to say is our chances of winning the championship right now are essentially zero because we can do everything in our power to get there (win games) and still get left out. At least with a 16 team playoff, we have a shot (however unlikely it is).

It's funny I am debating this...because, in reality, both options are extremely unlikely.
