I posted this right before the BBall game.l. It got buried quickly, but I figured others would be interested in the data.
BYU Admission and Enrollment Trends:
Thanks to Cougarrr (not a typo) for posting the new admissions data (estimates) for the entering class of Fall 2017
This year's BYU Admittance stats
http://www.cougarboard.com/board/message.html?id=17486017
I've been compiling older data and there are some interesting trends:
Total Freshman Admitted:
2017: 7300
2016: 7171
2015: 5127* (6420?)
Total Applications for New Freshman (percent accepted):
2017: 13700 (53%)
2016: 13408 (53.5%)
2015: 13376* (48%*)
* these numbers don't fit the math on the pamphlet here ...
https://news.byu.edu/byu-numbers --- if 48% of the Freshman apps were admitted that would be 6420 new freshman)
Average ACT
2017: 29.5
2016: 29
2015: 29
Average GPA
2017: 3.86
2016: 3.85
2015: 3.85
Enrollment Figures from EDAD:
2002: 32408
2005: 27460
2009: 28048
2011: 28005
2012: 28338
2013: 25084
2014: 24499
2015: 27339

Different Sources and maybe different snapshots of time below:
The brochure showing the 2015 enrollees data had:
Total daytime students: 32,615
Undergraduate students: 29,615
Graduate students: 2,933
And for 2016 numbers
https://news.byu.edu/about
Total daytime students: 33,363
Undergraduate: 30,395
Graduate: 2,968
Most current numbers from USNews & WR site
https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/byu-3670/student-life :
Total Enrollment: 33,469
Undergraduate enrollment: 30,221
Total graduate enrollment: 3,248
So the current total enrollment and total graduate students appear to be the highest ever at BYU. Not massive trends, but heading in the right direction. But at this rate it's going to take a LONG time to reach Sitake's purported desire to have 60K+ students at BYU.
What do y'all think is the ideal or max student body for BYU?
