We just painted a bedroom kind of a medium blue and now it feels like a cave in there. If you want to do a dark color, just do it as an accent.

As far as specific colors go, it depends. It should look good with the furniture, flooring, windows, and maybe even whatever is just outside the door.

My office is light gray, and I like it. A lot of our office furniture is black so it matches pretty well.
