2) Our best recruiting class ever is in their first or second seasons right after coming back from missionary service. Do you not believe we'll see improvement over the next 2 years?
- Marginal improvement? Probably. But drastic improvement has not been the pattern. I have seen really poor player development. Tyler Haws came in as a really good mid-range shooter that worked really hard, and left as the same. He was never a great 3 point shooter or driver. Kyle Collinsworth came in as a rebounding playmaker that couldn't shoot, and left as the same. Why should I suddenly believe we will see much different results with this crew?
3) Do you consider Gonzaga a hollow win or an inferior opponent?
- We'll probably disagree on this, but yes, I do see it as a hollow win. I said the night that it happened that it's too bad it meant absolutely nothing for either team's fortunes. Also, the fact that you have to cherry pick our ONE good win of the year, which ultimately meant nothing, is my point. We still went to the NIT, and they were still a one seed. A game that changes nothing is pretty hollow.
4) Who do you think is responsible for bringing in "the talent"?
- My argument has never been that the coaching staff can't bring in good talent. They clearly can. It's that they can't develop them and get the most out of them. Recruiting is half the battle, coaching them once they get here is the other half. And the half we're bad at. As I said in the OP, this is clearly a talented team that has no business losing to sub 200 RPI teams, but we did. On several occassions.
5) Just out of curiosity, who do you want as our coach that will do what you have pointed out better than Dave Rose?
- As I answered in an earlier reply, not my job. The fact that you or I don't know who should be the next coach, doesn't mean there isn't a good one out there. We pay people to build those relationships and have those connections. It's not you and it's not me. I heard the exact same argument for years before Bronco left. Turns out there was at least ONE viable candidate. To say that there is absolutely no one is a dumb argument. Someone who can attract good assistant coaches because he will further their careers. Let's stop pretending that no one could possibly come in here and be successful if Rose were gone. Just a bad argument.
