The #2 seed was entirely appropriate. Duke played a good SEC team - essentially in a road game - and lost.
The tournament seeding is supposed to take the entire season into account, and Duke had more top 25 victories than anybody in the country, and finished the season by winning the ACC tournament. This single loss to South Carolina does not undo any of that.
