would create more developable land in prime locations of Utah County close to the epicenter, make western parts of the county a little more accessible and more importantly, provide the way to deepen the lake without taking away any 'lakefront' property for city/private property owners on the north end of the lake.
Environmentalists would probably have a heartattack at the thought of filling up Provo Bay though. Goshen for that matter too.
