Puerto Rico is a long way from SoCal. As I understand, there are some cultural
singularities that typically keep Mexican Americans and Puerto Rican Americans from becoming very close-knit communities. No personal experience, just what I've heard.
Could explain why even Hispanic locals are pro-USA over PR.
