Smithfields bbq is an old classic, but I'd make the drive to backyard BBQ pit
Between Durham and Raleigh. Best "barbecue" (noun that means chopped vinegar pork) in NC IMO. It's a bit of a dive but usually awesome. Get fried okra, collards and BBQ sandwich w slaw.
