I have an opportunity for a small career change
It won't be a huge change from my skill set, but it will be a change of company/co-workers. I'm in a pretty strong position (several companies have contacted me and expressed interest in having me join their projects).

But I'm not sure how to go about calculating the salary negotiations. I'm punching cost of living calculators between my current location and the new work locations, but I don't trust the numbers. Some of them are skewed pretty high (60% increase in salary, etc). I'm wondering if there is anything I should take into account that the calculators are failing to mention.

Any advice for a first-time career changer?
