I have seen them on the recruiting trails and I know they are not lazy in that
respect. My son played in the same program as Frank Jackson, Gavin Baxter, Yoeli Childs etc. The coaching staff have been at dozens upon dozens upon dozens of these kids' games. They travel all over the country recruiting the kids that they feel can stick at BYU.

If I have any concerns they are these:
1.there may be a slight attitude that because a kid is LDS that they should play at BYU so they may not have to "suck up" to kids as much. Frankly, I have read some texts from other coaches from the ACC and PAC12 that almost left me feeling embarrassed about the suck up job... one in particular kinda creeped me right out, but I won't share it in gen pop. I think BYU could shed the attitude of entitlement for LDS kids and it would go a long way.

2. There are kids they wait WAY too long to offer. We were lucky to get Gavin Baxter and Conner Harding. These and other kids had higher offers than BYU much earlier than BYU offered. They offered Frank early (and TJ too) but there are some kids who are in their backyard who should be "under their wings" earlier on.

3. They choose to not offer some kids that are a better fit and more of what BYU needs than other kids. I will give one perfect example: BYU offers Poppoula and Rylan Jones and not Jaxon Brenchley. Brenchley is a better player and a better fit yet the staff "reaches" for higher risk program hopper Pop and offers zero chance in hades Rylan Jones (his dad played for the U and coaches at the U). Pop is good, Brenchley is better and would have come. Jones is good and MAY end up better than Brenchley (is not today) but I am guessing he wouldn't even consider BYU unless his dad has a toxic parting with the U.

But recruiting laziness is NOT a problem with the BYU coaching staff. Again, I have been to tournaments all over the country and see them at every stop. You don't have the experience yfever so you should not just toss out there nonsensical disparaging opinion.
