I have a hard time calling somebody Doctor when they aren't working in their
field of study.

I work for an engineering firm and one of our employees has a Doctorate in Education. He retrained himself as computer programmer and is now one of our mid-level programmers. He insists on being introduced as Dr. so and so to all of our clients and in formal meetings.

It shouldn't, but it just irks me that he is playing the doctor card when his field of study has absolutely zero applicability to what he is doing today. We have several others with doctorates in the company but they all in technical fields, so I don't mind one bit with them.
