I may be in the minority on this one, but if you can't hit a reasonable
percentage of free throws . . .
Messing around with the rules this way or allowing the team to choose whether to simply inbound the ball or shoot the free throws will take away a ton of drama from the end of games and reduce comebacks. This kind of thing would have the same type of impact as the elimination of the shot clock so the winning team could go back to the four corners offense while the crowd changes "Boring. Boring. Boring."
