But moose mostly leave you alone if you don't bother them.
I was hiking Timp one time from the Timpanooke side with a buddy. Just before the sun came up, we sensed something off to the right. There was a huge bull moose just waiting for us to pass. He noticed us before we noticed him. We quickly scrambled up the hill a bit to get out of his way, but he wasn't interested in messing with us.

Now, get between a cow and her baby, then you will have some problems. Or if you chase after a moose to try to get a good picture. But, mostly they leave you alone.

We were pretty close to these two bulls in the Uintas. This was at the Upper Provo Picnic Area. We see moose there a lot, and they never mess with the people:
