Nothing wrong with the hardware (on my last printer it was the hardware that died first), but the software seemed to have a self-destruct switch. I've reinstalled and researched and tried everything I can think of, but it keeps malfunctioning every few weeks.

The printer is 5 years old and I think HP just stopped supporting or updating the software.
