Two things. 1. Jordan's gambling was well known at the time. So that's really
not true when they say the NBA was trying to hide this. Everyone who followed the NBA closely then knew that Jordan was gambling heavily on the golf course and media reported on his playoff casino ventures all the time as well as his golfing debts.

2. His Dad was murdered on the side of the road. Jordan's Dad had always wanted him to be a baseball player, it makes perfect sense to me that after winning 3 in a row, the challenge wasn't there anymore. And anyone who has tragically lost a loved one knows that it's easy to lose motivation in the things of life that matter little.

His mourning and coping were to chase the dream his father always wanted. A major new challenge. He chased it while he still could. He'd seen Bo Jackson do it, so he honestly thought he could possibly succeed. Why not?

All this conspiracy nonsense is just that.
