I think that is part of it, but the other part is better use of analytical data.
Teams have realized that post-ups lead to a lot of contested shots in the mid-range that don't actually produce a great return from an efficiency perspective. As such, teams would prefer to avoid those types of shots as part of their offensive scheme.
