I'm not sure about not worrying about PG, wings have become the most valuable
players in the league but, if you look at the playoff teams, they almost all had awesome point guards. And PGs were the best player on the majority of teams. As great as the wings the Warriors have are, I'd still argue that Steph Curry is their most valuable player. The best players are the wings that can play point and facilitate like Lebron, the Greek Freak, Jimmy Butler, etc.

Her is a breakdown of each playoff team:

1- Warriors- Curry-PG (Durant is a better player, but, I don't think he is more valuable)
2 Spurs = Kawhi- SF
3- Rockets- Harden- PG
4- Clippers- Paul- PG
5- Jazz- Gobert or Hayward- SF/C (Though, George Hill was solid)
6- OKC- Westbrook- PG
7 Memphis- Conley- PG
8- Blazers- Lillard - PG

1-Boston- IT- Pg
2- Cavs- Lebron ( Not a PG but, plays like one and Kyrie a PG is their #2)
3-Toronto- 1A Derozan, 1B Kyle Lowry PG
4 Wizards- Wall- PG
5- Atlanta- Millsap or Schroder (PG)
6- Milwaukee- Greek Freak ( Kind of a PG but, also a Center, he's the ultimate in versatility)
7- Indiana- Paul George- SF
8- Chicago- Jimmy Butler- SG (Although when Rondo went down, the Bulls folded)

I guess my point is that Guards still have a huge place in this league and unless you have a Wing who can play Point Guard like Lebron, the Greek Freak, or Jimmy Butler, it's hard to win without a point guard.
