development in England, compared to Spain:

What stood out to me was this comment: "[At Arsenal] I remember doing hydration tests, body fat tests, mobility tests, looking at the data after the games, during training sessions - everything. When I was at Barcelona it was all about the football. It was a completely different mentality."
While the tone of the Arsenal website's article is that Arsenal's player development program is superior to Barcelona's, actual results and history would seem to say exactly the opposite, and I wonder if Bellerin's insight might explain why.
Maybe the focus on actual football, as opposed to physical testing/development, is a key reason that La Masia is widely considered to be the world's best soccer youth academy, and that Spanish clubs have seemingly produced much more outstanding youth talent than EPL clubs in recent years? The relative performance of the national teams would seem to support this as well.
I'm sure Barcelona and other La Liga youth academies could benefit from incorporating some of what Bellerin has seen at Arsenal, but conversely, I think that English academies would probably benefit from focusing more on football, Barcelona-style.
