It actually happened twice now that I look it up
in 2001 they played to a tie in the final CONMEBOL qualifying match when Uruguay needed it. A result widely speculated to have been agreed to before hand.
Then in 2005, Uruguay won 1-0 with Argentina not showing much effort to score. Uruguay needed a win to qualify.
