For $7500 other options open up, but cost aside
You get an actual economy 4-wheeler (not a stupid crossover) with a two speed transfer case and the engine facing the right way, plus a removable top. MPG is just a bonus.
As long as fast isn't sexy in your book, than the Geo/Chevy tracker is definitely worth a look.
