What I can't do is what passes for SUVs these days. Chevy Trax? Geo tracker? No brainer, even if the trackers soft top was ripped.

The problem with the American car market is everybody buys as a "status symbol" and nobody researches or cares about capability anymore. Sure, they may *think* they care, but they really don't. If they did, auto manufacturers would market the vehicles.actual torque curves rather than list peak HP numbers, which are worthless.

I remember my old 1978 BMW 635csi project car, the owners manual actually showed the torque curves and listed the tranny gear ratios so the owner could maximize his cornering abilities to the capability of the chassis.

It came with a tool box so the owner could replace a water pump on the roadside if needed...this was a $35k ($120k) car back in the day. Now you get caution triangles and road flares so you can await the tow truck. .
