Language is always evolving. Trying to fight that is a pointless effort. Who and whom are essentially the same. I know when to use each properly, but using the wrong one does not create any confusion in spoken or written form. Using whom, even when correctly placed, adds little of value.
I of course would be open to any counter arguments I might not be thinking of right now, but overall, I am a fan of allowing language to evolve naturally. Whom seems on the way out, and I have no problem with that.
And an easy tip that always helps me know which to use:
If the answer to who/whom would be He or She, use who.
If the answer to who/whom would be Him or Her, use whom.
