Come at the cost of their retirement (they were already tried). They didn't know what things coat or if we needed it, but it was kind of them to ask. We felt school was our responsibility, not theirs and figured that a period as poor students was part of life and we were going to have a decade's worth of that lifestyle we'd get used to it. I'm just glad I didn't marry a high maintenance wife who expected life to be as comfortable for her when we first married as it had been while she was growing up.
