If I were you I would do irons
I gamed my dads old cobras for a while before I decided to get my own. Technology on irons has really really improved in the last decade or so and I found my irons were much more forgiving and my distances were more consistent. You also hit your irons a lot more than your driver.

Putter is important, but you don't have to break the bank to find one you like. I got a Cleveland TFI that I love for like 80 bucks online, put a new grip on it for about 20.

Driver is the least important to me. I got one of the Nikes last year when the prices dropped like crazy. I hit it really well and like it a lot, but if I am only going to hit a club 4 or so times per 9 holes, it's not my number one priority.

Won a new Titleist 58 degree wedge at the beginning of the year, need to replace my sand wedge at some point.

Before anything be sure to look at callawaypreowned.com, they even have non callaway brands. You can get "like new" clubs that still have the plastic on them. Go hit a bunch at the pgastore and then look online for the ones you want.
