This story reminds me of something that happened a few weeks ago at a pool party
.

Some co-workers were throwing a pool party at their house for someone that was moving away. For context, this is in Texas so I was the only Mormon, and for the most part we are age 20 something engineers. Of course there was plenty of drinking going on. Probably about 5 hours into the party a few people dove off the second story balcony into the pool. The pool isn't very big, so I considered this a pretty stupid idea, but the divers were sufficiently drunk to make the decision and had probably done it before. They managed to pull off the feat successfully.

Shortly after this I decided to leave the party. I think the only person there over 30 was is one of the engineering leads where I work and is probably around 50. It is not uncommon for him to go off on long speeches about safety, and how careful we need to be at work, and how much he worries about us getting hurt. Well apparently after I left the party he decided he wanted to join in on the fun of diving into the pool. He managed to bash his head on the side of the pool, got a huge gash, was temporarily knocked out, took and ambulance to the hospital, and missed a week of work with a severe concussion. Probably lucky that it wasn't worse.

TLDR; Alcohol makes people do dumb things.
