Yep. Widen the Troller and you've got a sweet vehicle...
but apparently too many people are getting involved at Ford. That is the problem when a project is so visible at a company like that.

They need to get this into a small team, as the anonymous engineer mentioned, and go to work without distraction.

I was the finance lead on a killer new vehicle platform being developed by Navistar/Catarpillar for the Brazilian market. The designs and capabilities coming out of the small team were excellent. The vehicle would have been a best in class on-highway tractor and a serious off-road utility truck. It would have given Navistar and Catarpillar the chance to capture major market share around the globe (sans the North American Market). But then too many people from both companies wanted their say. Before long the expected development cost went from $100mm to over $300mm. Eventually the project was killed and the joint venture fizzled out. There are still some awesome working prototypes in the basement of Navistar's Chicago manufacturing plant. Hopefully they revive their finances and someday finish that project.

I am sure that Ford will get the Bronco to market. But if they can't reign it in and just focus on producing a killer product it will be a footnote in their museums instead of an awesome revival of a cult favorite.
