care about the players. Letting a player go is a difficult thing to do. Oregon had to let him go because he was constantly getting into trouble. It was the right move. Props to them.
Utah was the right fit because the Utes (outside of CB and in the real world) have a great reputation for running a clean program. KW is well respected among coaches as a tough-nosed guy. While he's very open to second chances, he won't allow a lapse in judgment.
This is part why the Utes have been so well received by the NFL.
I wouldn't be surprised if the Oregon staff were relieved he went to UU (he wasn't going to leave the conference).
Josh Gordon is a prime example. The TT coaches deliberately pushed him to Utah because of their respect for KW. Josh relapsed and never saw the field at UU because of it. He's the one of a kind talent that could still reach the NFL despite his issues...but they never went away. Carrington, while a solid NFL prospect outside of his issues, doesn't have that kind of talent.
Utah is his best prospect to clean things up, end on a high note and get to the league. Good fit.
