is this recent quote from Colorado's coach, who is in a somewhat similar spot as LSU's Ed Orgeron. Now, BYU plays an FCS school while CSU plays Oregon St., so BYU is fully expected to have its game wrapped up by halftime while CSU faces a P5 opponent, likely as an underdog. It was also changed to a week zero game on the schedule much more recently. But here's what MacIntyre says about facing a team that is coming off a week zero game:
"I'm concerned that CSU plays OSU before [CSU plays] us," MacIntyre explained. "I wish I would have known that a long time ago. We would've made a zero week game. I think that gives them a big advantage - at least in the beginning of the game, for sure."
With Colorado State having a game under their belt and going through their second game week, MacIntyre wants his squad to come out ready to go.
"We'll have to find a way to get the tempo of the game," said MacIntyre. "We'll probably scrimmage a little bit more than we have in the past to try to get that there. Hopefully, we'll be able to come out of the gates fast. But [CSU playing OSU on week zero] gives them a huge advantage to me, so I'm concerned about that."
Ed Orgeron and LSU probably have to be feeling the same way as they have plenty of new starters and a new offensive scheme to iron out. Criddle claimed last week that he had spoken with sources close to LSU's program and they told him "They're scared and they should be". I'm really glad we got the week zero game at home this year. If there are no injuries, I think BYU is in a great position to leverage their preparation for the LSU game and really come out crisp and physical.
