Clubs are a fine tuned set of precision instruments. Cheap clubs are not considered "professional grade or pro line." Not that he has to be a professional... but when you're learning a difficult sport that requires precision, it's best to have clubs that are tuned to each other. In fact, he's going to need several sets of clubs over the next few years if he sticks to it and becomes good. If you guys were in my ward... I'd be glad to help... but I'm not. You might find a golfer in your ward and get the heads up on what he needs.
