What was a potentially awkward discussion turned out to be one more reason why I like Kalani.

I was teaching his and tuiaki's daughter's Sunday School class... We were covering the lesson about treating the body like a temple. One of them asked about tattoos, specifically tribal tattoos. I responded that we are to treat our bodies like a gift, and that this is a topic that should probably be discussed with her Dad.

After church I found Kalani and let him know what we talked about and that his daughter may be asking him about tattoos later. His response surprised me. He shared that he struggles with how to approach the topic of tattoos with his kids since he has one and that there was in a sense conflicting values one being cultural and one being religious. I for one appreciated his candor and humility in the moment.
