Dortmund and Bayern Munich
Funny experience over Labor Day in St. George. I was lounging in the pool and heard a couple speaking German. I started chatting with them because I had been to Germany within the past year. They were from Munich. We were talking about their "holidays" in the states, what they were doing, etc.

Somehow we got on the topic of soccer. He was clearly a fan. I mentioned that Pulisic from the U.S. was playing on the Dortmund squad, and that U.S. fans have very high hopes for him on the national level because very few Americans start in the highest leagues in Europe. As soon as I mentioned Dortmund, he started shaking his head, as if to say, "no." I asked him about it and he said he cheered for Bayern Munich, and "that team" is his rival. He said he could not even speak that team's name. I chuckled, and then spent the next 10 minutes working the name "Dortmund" into the conversation and trying to get him to say it. He would not. Absolutely refused. Very nice guy, fun to talk to, but seemed a little childish with the name thing.

Reminded me of all the Urbanites at the U of U who would only refer to BYU as the "team down south." Pretty juvenile.
