I'd bet that the school has better luck getting recruiters to the school because of the dress code. Certain employers
(I'd imagine) find that refreshing.
If you have a low ranked school you need to differentiate yourself somehow. Why not do it by selling your graduates to employers as responsible people you can trust.
(note... this is just my guess that helps me sleep at night.... otherwise the policy seems absurd to me)
