If ND does stay independent, that leaves 6 slots....

Texas and OU are certainties (if teams do not head elsewhere to other conferences... if that's the case my question holds less weight for certain... OU could be on its way to the SEC in this scenario)

OSU likely if OU and UT stay together.

WVU fits geographically somewhat.

Politics will cause UT to push weight around for TTech, TCU. Not guaranteed. (Does UT even push for Houston? Ew)

Iowa State, Kansas State most likely to be outside looking in. Kansas has Bball, academics but AWFUL football program.

What to do with Baylor?? Political mess, not a traditional powerhouse, not a contributor to market.... does UT still have allegiance politically?

IF BYU got into this line up.... somewhere in the fight between merit/strength of program and politics....

My view of the sweetest "6" would be:

UT
OU
OSU
BYU
WVU
and Kansas (well... because I want to play them in Bball and so does the ACC and... I don't prize being associated with TCU again... and the other programs are in the middle of nowhere market wise.)
