I agree, they are certainly on one extreme

The Patriots are on the other. 

 

To me John Elway was the greatest talent at QB in NFL history.  The Broncos are a premier organization now in the NFL, but they weren't when he took over.  He took teams full of bums (inlcuding a coach that was staunchly against passing on 1st and 2nd downs) to Superbowls and finally when he had a supporting cast won 2 Superbowls.

 

Now does he have the stats, championships and accolades that Brady has? No.  Brady has the better career.  That doesn't change my view that Elway was the greatest talent at the position.  He just didn't have as much to work with.  Football is the ultimate team sport and there is a reason that organizations like the Steelers, Patriots, Broncos etc have consistently been at the top for the past 2 decades.  It is the same reason teams like the Browns have struggled mightily.
