Has a coach ever taken a program 2 steps back before taking it 3 steps forward?
I know every coach has some bad seasons, but I'm looking for an example of someone taking over a decent program and making it worse before it got better than it was when he initially took over.
Yes, guys like LaVell, Harbaugh, and Leach had some bad seasons. But they took over dumpster fires when they got there, so that comparison doesn't work.
