Ones that help teams or personnel of lesser size or speed and give them a different set of advantages? The type of offensive ingenuity that up-and-coming ranks of D1 assistants are dissecting and tuning and making a study of as they fight and claw their way to maybe (just maybe) get a crack at the next level as an OC, with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove - even if they have to live a new/different set of behavioral standards when that get that shot?
I love Ty, but I was a little shocked when I saw the interview when he said "some of the nuances of the spread offense ... I'm not as familiar with". This suggests he was going with pro-style just because it's the one he knows best, not because he has a good understanding of them all and is finding the one that's going to work best. I thought when he went to make adjustments towards things like spread, it would be with a keen understanding of the nuances so that would be gaining advantages in the finer points.
With that statement, it sounds like adjusting is more of a learning curve for everyone, even the coach.
We need to be able to recruit up, coach up and just as importantly scheme up to succeed.
