basketball school in a basketball conference, and puts a lot of emphasis on academics. Mendenhall will never have true P-5 pressure to perform at high levels there. The last guy (London) got fired for having several downright miserable years, but not because UVa has huge expectations. Mendenhall can probably stay at UVa indefinitely if he just averages 6 to 8 wins per year.
At UCLA, he would be expected to win a lot, and win with style. He would be expected to sign lots of 4- and 5-star recruits, and send lots of guys into the NFL. He would have to compete with USC in every thing he does at UCLA. Maybe he would be making a slightly larger paycheck, but his quality of life would (likely) be much, much worse.
