The one characteristic that all P5 teams share, and every G5/Indy does not, is
that in a P5 league you are guaranteed a NY6 bowl bid if you win your league.

Period.

I have never suggested that there aren’t other differences between MOST P5s and MOST G5’s, but the one, common denominator is access.

I also didn’t suggest that gaining access to the NY6 via a de facto autobid would necessarily make the AAC a P5 league (see my post below). But access is the salient point.

Again: if it were about money, or fanbase, or success, BYU would be a P5 and Purdue would not. And yet here we are.
