I was looking forward to this game for awhile since I used to live in the Fresno area. We drove down Friday night and stayed with my parents who live about 1 hour 15 minutes away from the stadium.

On Saturday we left at 4:30 because we didn’t want to get stuck in traffic, but there wasn’t any congestion to speak of. We parked at Fashion Fair Mall, which was about a mile away. No way was I going to pay $10 to park next to the stadium. The stadium was easy to find since it was dark outside and the lights were on.

Rain was in the forecast, so we brought ponchos. We ended up not needing them at all. My wife got hungry and bought a slice of pizza, it was surprisingly good for stadium pizza. Bulldog stadium serves Pepsi products, just like stupid utah.

We were surrounded by Fresno State fans, some were obnoxious and said swear words, others drank what looked like beer, but the majority were cordial toward us. One fan said he wished BYU would join the MWC so “we can get this rivalry going again”. We sat right behind the BYU bench. The guys looked excited when they made a good play, but stoic when Fresno State made good plays. I saw Kalani and Ty Detmer. Koy Detmer wore a headset the entire game and Critchlow has red hair. There were two El Bakaris, Greenes and Lees. I thought I was seeing double LOL.

After the game we walked back to the mall and saw a utah fan leaving the stadium shouting “go utes”. He was really fat and had thick glasses; probably inbred. Anyway, we drove home via the back roads though the agricultural fields. It’s amazing how the crops change over time. Now there’s lots of tree nuts—almond, pistachio and walnut trees everywhere. High demand in Asia is why.

Anyway, fun game but I wish the outcome was a little more favorable.
