I know first hand exactly what he’s saying... which reminds me of my disdain for
the self help sub category on obtaining happiness. I.E the book “the happiness advantage”. Really? These authors seriously think they just uncovered this astounding truth that life is better being happy vs sad?

It’s comical that many believe being happy or sad is simply a choice. Yep... some people would rather be sad and some just decided they wanted to be happy.

The reality is the mind is very powerful and the needle can be moved for better or worse but when a person has legitimate depression they can’t just think their way into becoming Mary Poppins. Can they improve their struggle? Absolutely, but it’s going to be a battle and the war will likely never be won.
